Village of Oak Creek (VOC) — Golf, Bell Rock & Outlets
The Village of Oak Creek — universally called "VOC" by locals — is the unincorporated community 7 miles south of Sedona's "Y" intersection, straddling SR-179 at the base of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. It is technically not in the City of Sedona at all (Yavapai County, no city sales tax bump), which is part of why a different crowd ends up basing here: golfers, factory-outlet shoppers, and travelers who want red-rock views without Uptown's patio bustle.
What defines VOC
The Village of Oak Creek is the unincorporated community 7 miles south of Sedona\'s "Y" intersection on SR-179, set at the base of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. It is in Yavapai County, not the City of Sedona — which means a slightly lower sales tax, and a different planning aesthetic (more strip-mall, less faux-pueblo). The trade-off: dramatically easier parking and a quieter night sky.
What to do
VOC\'s signature hike is the Bell Rock Pathway — a flat, family-friendly red-rock approach with multiple turn-around points, and arguably the easiest "feels like Sedona" experience in the region. The Courthouse Butte Loop circumnavigates the formation just behind Bell Rock. Two championship golf courses anchor the village: Oakcreek Country Club and Sedona Golf Resort. The Outlets at Sedona on the south end have factory stores (Coach, Levi\'s, Nike).
Where to eat
VOC has its own dining scene that locals quietly prefer when Uptown is mobbed. Cucina Rustica is the Tuscan-leaning sister of the famed Dahl & DiLuca. Pisa Lisa does wood-fired pizza, and Colt Grill is solid for BBQ and craft cocktails. Momo\'s covers Himalayan dumplings.
