West Sedona — Residential Quiet & Trailhead Access

West Sedona is everything on SR-89A west of the "Y" — the long, low-slung residential and small-business stretch that locals call home. There are no galleries here and no jeep-tour kiosks. What there is: groceries, hardware stores, family-run restaurants, the medical clinic, and the trailheads that most of Sedona's best hikes actually start from.

What defines West Sedona

West Sedona is everything along SR-89A west of the "Y" intersection — a roughly four-mile residential and small-business corridor that ends near the airport mesa. It is where most year-round Sedona residents actually live, work, and grocery-shop. No galleries, no jeep kiosks, and far fewer crowds.

What to do

The reason most travelers care about West Sedona is trailhead access. The Soldier Pass trail (and its Seven Sacred Pools spur), the Mescal Trail, and the shuttle pickup for Devil\'s Bridge are all on this side of town. The Airport Mesa loop trail and the Airport Mesa Vortex rise at the western end.

Where to eat

Coffee Pot, the local breakfast institution, is here. So is Thai Spices for honest pad thai, and Rotten Johnny\'s Pizza for a post-hike pie. The Sunday farmers market runs October through May.
