Open-Air Jeep Tour Alternatives to Pink Jeep
Pink Jeep has the brand recognition, the fleet size, and the Uptown footprint — but four other reputable operators run open-air red-rock tours out of Sedona, and on a busy weekend when Pink Jeep is fully booked, one of them may save your trip. Here is who they are, what each does best, and how to pick.
Why look beyond Pink Jeep
Pink Jeep is the dominant operator and the safe pick, but on a sold-out weekend, or for a guest who wants something more specialised, the four alternative operators below all run quality open-top jeeps and have decent local reputations. Pricing across the smaller outfits typically lands $20–$50 below Pink Jeep for a comparable tour length.
Red Rock Western Jeep Tours
The longest-running alternative — based at 270 N SR-89A in Uptown, about three doors down from the Pink Jeep depot. Their Soldier Pass tour is their flagship and covers the Seven Sacred Pools and the small cave at the end of the trail — same terrain you would otherwise hike on the Soldier Pass Trail (4.2 miles round-trip), compressed into a 2.5-hour drive. Right pick if you want a Soldier Pass experience without the walk.
A Day in the West
Specialises in combo packages — jeep + horseback ride, jeep + cookout, jeep + helicopter. The combos are pricier than a standalone jeep tour but solve the "one big experience day" problem nicely. Their Diamondback Gulch route is the closest thing the alternatives have to a Broken Arrow-style slickrock thrill ride.
Earth Wisdom Jeep Tours
The vortex-specialist operator — they run tours specifically oriented toward the Sedona spiritual tradition, with guides trained in the local New Age framework. If you are coming to Sedona for the vortex experience and want a guide who will take it seriously rather than play it for tourist laughs, Earth Wisdom is the one. The vehicles are smaller (often four-passenger) so the experience feels more intimate.
Sedona Off-Road Adventures
The newer of the four, runs side-by-side UTVs as well as traditional jeeps. Their Hi-Line tour climbs to a ridge with a Cathedral Rock view that the bigger operators don\'t cover. Good pick for travellers who already did Broken Arrow on a previous trip and want something different.
How to pick
Defaulting to Pink Jeep is fine. Choose Red Rock Western if Soldier Pass is on your list, A Day in the West if you want a combo experience, Earth Wisdom if vortex content matters to you, and Sedona Off-Road for repeat visitors looking for a new route. For Visit Sedona\'s complete operator directory, see the Visit Sedona jeep tour guide.
