The Hudson
The Hudson is the casual modern-American spot we send guests to for their first dinner of the trip — the patio sits on a low ridge with a direct view of Bell Rock and Castle Rock to the south, the menu has something for every member of a multi-generational table, and the kids' menu is real food not nuggets. Heated patio means this works all winter.
Why we send guests here
671 SR-179 between Uptown and the Village of Oak Creek — six to twelve minutes from most of our rentals depending on which side of town you're staying. Modern American: burgers, salads, fish tacos, plus a serious entrée menu (the short rib, the pan-roasted salmon). The room is casual but considered, the bar is well-run, and the patio is the entire reason to come — Bell Rock and Castle Rock sit straight south of you over the railing. When to go: any night. Book a sunset patio table if that's what you want; walk in for the dining room and the wait is rarely over thirty minutes on a weekday. $35–$55 per person, less for lunch. This is the first-night dinner spot we recommend to guests who want a real view and a relaxed pace before the bigger reservations later in the trip. The Hudson burger and a glass of malbec is a fine standing order.
