Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill
Mariposa is the destination patio in Sedona — a Lisa Dahl-designed pan-Latin grill built to frame Capitol Butte and Cathedral Rock through floor-to-ceiling glass, with gas-fed fire pits lit at dusk and the most unobstructed sunset view of any restaurant in town. Book a sunset table three weeks out for weekends and arrive thirty minutes before to claim it.
Why we send guests here
700 SR-89A in West Sedona, ten minutes from most of our rentals. The room is dramatic, architectural, and built around the view — but the kitchen is the reason we keep coming back. Chef Lisa Dahl pulls from Argentine, Brazilian, and Peruvian traditions and the wood-grill program is the centrepiece. Order the bone-in ribeye and the wood-grilled octopus — both have been on the menu for years and both are reliably excellent. The empanadas are a strong starter; the chimichurri-marinated skirt steak is a softer-touch alternative to the ribeye. Cocktail program is one of the best in town: ask for the smoked paloma. When to go: sunset reservation on a Tuesday or Wednesday — weekend tables are booked three weeks out, and the sunset window changes weekly so the host will help you time it. Expect $80 per person before wine; double that with the cocktail and wine list. The patio is heated through winter, so this works year-round.
