Hiro's Sushi
Hiro's is the sushi room in West Sedona — a small dining room and an eight-seat sushi bar run by chef Hiro for over twenty years. The fish flies into Phoenix and arrives twice a week. Omakase available if you sit at the bar and ask. The locals' answer to a sushi craving in a town that does not get a lot of sushi traffic.
Why we send guests here
In West Sedona, six minutes from most of our rentals. An unassuming strip-mall sushi room run for over two decades by chef Hiro — the kind of long-running owner-operator restaurant that survives because regulars eat here weekly. Fish arrives from a Phoenix wholesaler twice a week. Sit at the eight-seat sushi bar and ask for omakase if you want chef's pick; otherwise order the chirashi bowl, the spicy tuna roll (cleaner version than most American sushi rooms), and the tempura starter. The miso soup is house-made, not the powdered kind. When to go: Tuesday or Wednesday after the new fish delivery, dinner reservation. Closed Sunday and Monday. $40–$70 per person; omakase runs $80–$110. Sake list is short but well-chosen — ask Hiro for the dry recommendation. Genuinely good sushi in a town where good sushi is harder to come by than you'd expect.
