Hilltop Deli
Hilltop Deli is the sandwich counter tucked inside the Indian Gardens market up Oak Creek Canyon — five miles north of Uptown on SR-89A. Order at the counter, eat on the back patio under the cottonwoods with the creek running below. The pre-hike lunch grab for the West Fork or Slide Rock days. Local favourite; almost no one outside the canyon knows about it.
Why we send guests here
3953 N SR-89A inside the Indian Gardens general store, five miles north of Uptown up Oak Creek Canyon — fifteen minutes from our West Sedona properties. A real deli counter inside a small canyon market: piled sandwiches on house-baked bread, a soup of the day, a short list of salads, and the best to-go option on the road to West Fork or Slide Rock. Order the turkey-avocado on sourdough or the Italian sub; the chicken-salad sandwich is the dark-horse pick. Get it to go and eat at the West Fork picnic tables, or stay and grab the back patio under the cottonwoods with Oak Creek running below — one of the most underrated lunch spots in the area. When to go: on the way to a canyon hike, midday weekday for the patio. $10–$16 per person. Indian Gardens itself has a coffee bar at the front, good cold-brew, and a small grocery if you forgot anything for the rental. The hidden lunch stop locals send their visiting parents to.
