El Rincon Restaurante Mexicano
El Rincon is the longstanding Sonoran-Mexican restaurant inside the Tlaquepaque Arts Village — opened in 1972 and still family-run. Traditional Sonoran plates (the chimichanga was reportedly invented in Tucson; El Rincon takes it seriously), patio seating in the Tlaquepaque courtyards, and a margarita list that pre-dates most of the modern Sedona dining scene. Inside Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village just south of Uptown — eleven minutes from our West Sedona properties. Family-run Sonoran-Mexican opened in 1972 and still under the same family — the longest-running Mexican restaurant in Sedona. The menu leans Sonoran (Arizona-Mexican border region) with serious chimichangas, enchiladas in red and green sauce, and a chiles rellenos plate worth ordering. Order the Navajo Taco (a Sedona-specific take on fry bread piled with beef, beans, and chile) and the seafood enchiladas if they are on the daily board. The margarita list pre-dates the modern Sedona dining scene and the house margarita on the rocks is the right pour. When to go: lunch on the Tlaquepaque courtyard patio after shopping, or dinner reservation if you want the inside dining room. $25–$45 per person. The historical anchor of the Tlaquepaque dining lineup — comfortable, friendly, and reliably good.
